TONDERAI CHINDOWA

Tonderai was born in 1973 in the Muwera District, Zimbabwe. Tonderai is the first born into a family of eight allowing him to be educated. He attended Chemhoudoro Primary and Secondary School where he gained the knowledge of art. His interest in art started when he was in grade two and broadened his knowledge at secondary level by attending a Technical Drawing Course. Tonderai is now married and is blessed with a son and a daughter.

He started carving in Feburary of 2002 at Highfield art co-op under the guidance of Emmanual Mavhura who was also the root of inspiration.

Tonderai says of his work “I carve according to feeling and this is why my art is mixed, composed with fine art and creative art”.

Tonderai’s works have been to the USA, Canada, Holland, Australia and South Africa.

Tonderai’s wish is to grow and market his art world wide, to become famous and to travel to different countries exhibiting his art.
