TENDAI GATSI

Tendai was born in Guruve, in 1972 and did his O’levels in Shamva, Zimbabwe in 1990. After school he started sculpturing art in Chitungwiza.

Tendai has participated in many exhibitions in and out of Zimbabwe. Some of his works are shown in the National Gallery of Zimbabwe (Harare), Stone Heritage, Ramambo Lodge to mention just a few. Overseas his work are exhibited in America, France, Portugal, Britain, and Ireland.

Tonderai’s first teacher of sculpture was Nesbert Mukomberanwa and my inspiration has been from my brothers, to name one Adam Gatsi. Nicolas Mukomberanwa, Nesbert’s uncle also helped me in most of my creations during the early days. Until now my creations are expressions of day to day life and the shona surroundings. Most of my work comprises clean cut edges and curves as part of my art identification.
